Somewhere, far from civilised lands, stands a ruined city — once the navel of the world, now abandoned but for shambling hordes of necrotic undead. The jewel in its dubious crown is an arena, where death is both the fate of the performers and the nature of the audience.
It’s said that skeletal vanguards of the horde often bring back living victims from raids. These captives are not sold as slaves, nor put to work in mines. Instead, they are dragged to the arena to fight for the entertainment of an unliving crowd, who holler from rotting throats as their chattel desperately duel below. A brief spark of life in an otherwise undead city, extinguished all-too-soon as the phantom onlookers fall silent once more, awaiting their next entertainment...
