Our acrylic panels are 1/6 inch (4 mm) thick, rigid, and unbendable, featuring precision laser-cut openings and smooth, rounded corners.
In contrast, typical art-and-craft acrylic panels are noticeably thinner, with a thickness of 1/8 inch (3 mm) or 1/12 inch (2 mm), and tend to bend under their own weight. These thinner panels are often simple-cut raw materials with sharp edges.
A quick search on Amazon comparing the costs of 1/4 inch, 1/6 inch, and 1/8 inch thick panels will show how much more expensive thicker panels are. This cost difference explains why most acrylic cages and boxes are made with thinner panels. While they may appear similar to ours in photos, thinner panels feel cheap and flimsy when held.
